Coming to Lectra: Recently Deleted, and documents that say when they are arriving

Deleting something should never be the last thing you can do about it.

Lectra Notes on the App Store is still version 9.0. Everything below is in the next build, which is finished in code and not yet released. We will say here when it is out.

The biggest change is Recently Deleted. In Lectra 9, Move to Trash deleted a document right away, with no confirmation and no undo. In the next build, Lectra asks first, then moves the document to Recently Deleted and shows an Undo button. You can open Recently Deleted from the library menu, restore one document or all of them, and see how many days each one has left.

  • Documents stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days. The count is kept by our server, so an iPad with the wrong date cannot clear them early.
  • A document that was never backed up is never cleared on its own. It stays until you delete it yourself.
  • Restoring on one iPad restores everywhere you use Lectra.
  • Delete Now asks again, and the warning is stronger when the document is the only copy.

Documents sent from Scope now tell you where they are. While the pages download, the document says Arriving. If the download fails, it says so and offers a retry, instead of looking like every other document and failing quietly. The arrival is also faster, because Lectra now fetches the one document you sent instead of checking the whole library.

Check for New Files used to say you were up to date even when it could not reach us. It now says it could not check, and that your documents are still here.

Error messages got the same treatment everywhere. Instead of whatever the system happened to report, Lectra now says one of a few plain things: it cannot reach Lectra right now and your work is safe on this iPad, you need to sign in, things are busier than usual, or something did not go through and nothing was changed.

Split view also got easier to use without dragging. A tab's menu now has Move Left and Move Right, VoiceOver and Switch Control can open a document in either pane, and the divider moves in steps and reads out the split.
