When you mark up a document in Lectra Notes and send it back through Scope, what travels is a PDF with your ink drawn onto the pages. Until this release that PDF was only rebuilt at one moment, which was when you tapped Back to leave the document. Anything that skipped that moment left the old copy in place.
There were a lot of ways to skip it. You could leave the document open on the iPad, the app could be suspended halfway through saving, you could switch tabs, or a run of uploads could fail. Each of those left your ink saved on the iPad but the shared copy out of date, and the file picker in the Scope extension would then attach the original, unannotated PDF without saying anything. Nothing looked wrong until someone opened what you handed in.
Lectra 9 stops relying on the Back button. Every time the app launches, comes to the foreground, refreshes the library, or wakes up to receive a file, it checks each document it shares with Scope and asks whether the shared copy includes everything on this iPad. If it does not, Lectra rebuilds the copy and sends it. A document that is open in an editor right now gets saved in place without closing, so you do not have to leave the page for your work to count.
Telling whether a copy is out of date took some care. Every save rewrites the file that holds your ink, so comparing file dates would call a copy stale forever even when nothing had changed. Lectra now records when each copy was last built and what it covered, and it compares against that.
One related fix: a document you created on the iPad and then shared used to come back from the server looking like something Scope had sent you. It landed in the Scope inbox, could not be moved, and lost its favourite. It now stays where you put it.
The other half of this belongs to the Scope extension, which will ask the iPad for its freshest pages at the moment you pick a file, instead of taking whatever was uploaded last. That part is built but not released. Scope for Canvas is still on version 11.0.5, and we will say here when the update is out.
