Annotation and drawing are different jobs. Marking up a reading means working on top of a page you did not make. Drawing a mechanism, a free-body diagram, a poster, or a figure for a lab report means making the page. Lectra has been good at the first for a while. Studio is the second.
It is a full canvas, and it ships with what a canvas needs:
- Brushes that respond to pressure and tilt, with per-brush variance and stroke smoothing, and presets you can save.
- Layers, with a media library so images and captures sit on the canvas as objects rather than as pasted pixels.
- Text on the canvas, edited in place.
- Shape guides and a precision panel, for when the drawing has to be right rather than expressive.
- Version history, so an experiment is never a one-way door.
- Export to image, to a package, or into a .lectra document alongside the rest of your work.
Two people can now work on the same canvas at once, the way they already could on a document. Strokes, objects, and selections travel between devices while you draw.
Studio is part of Lectra Notes, not a separate app and not a separate purchase. A canvas can sit beside the reading it came from, in the same library, in the same document.
